Tour Our New Physical Therapy Office – Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center

Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center (TMWIHC) proudly announces the grand opening of its brand-new Physical Therapy building, a state-of-the-art 5,860 square foot facility dedicated to restoring mobility, reducing pain, and promoting wellness through culturally centered rehabilitative care.

The grand opening event was held on July 22, 2025 from 11am-1pm at 850 Sanguinetti Road, Sonora.

“This new building represents is an exciting representation on the growth of not only our Physical Therapy Clinic, but as the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Centers commitment to growth in our community,” said Janet Pepper, Chief Executive Officer. “It’s also a commitment to healing — in motion. We’re proud to offer services that reflect our values: respectful care, strength through tradition, and wellness for all generations.”

The new facility will serve Native and non-Native community members, offering a full range of physical therapy services, including but not limited to:

  • Post-injury and post-surgery rehabilitation
  • Chronic pain management
  • Mobility and strength training
  • Fall prevention and balance support
  • Sports related injuries
  • Weakness or loss of motions
  • Pediatric PT

Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center’s Physical Therapy Department is staffed by experienced, licensed professionals who take a personalized approach to each patient’s healing journey. They are also the only physical therapy clinic in the county to offer Pediatric Physical Therapy.

“Our new space allows us to serve more patients in an efficient and warm environment that is infused with cultural pride,” said Trever East, Director of TMWIHC Physical Therapy.

The new facility will offer a new treadmill using gait assessment, new leg press machines, squat racks and a new four-way weigh station. TMWIHC encourages patients, community members, and partners to attend and learn more about how physical therapy can be a powerful path to recovery and resilience.
